AC Shadows Unveils Surprising AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre partnership that challenges conventional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A strange confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned practices and monstrous changes resonate through the darkness." The plot features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret sect.
The adventure centers on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a striking moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana in addition to several items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's third free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally featured a quest that clearly echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
