Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
American actor Pat Finn, who appeared in popular TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles on Monday having undergone cancer treatment beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a announcement.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific TV Career
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, like:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- "House"
He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.
Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
