Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of well-known figures from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a group of music creators. The single blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the campaign have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative commented. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
