Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are demanding that a individual who breached a barricade and seized the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.

A viral footage reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a event pathway flanked by supporters.

Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by event staff.

Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being arrested", though legal records indicated that he was set to appear on the next day. It is not clear if he was charged.

Pattern of Event Invasions

This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes clips of him disrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.

"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.

"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.

Fans Voice Worry Over Grande's Safety

Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.

"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote another comment on Instagram.

A number of attendees also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while others requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.

Response and Premiere Information

In footage circulating online, Grande seemed surprised when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.

Grande has not commented on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.

Fans at Wicked premiere
Hundreds of Singapore fans had queued up to greet the cast of Wicked

Hundreds of fans had congregated in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it began.

The film, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected bond between two contrasting characters.

The production itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.

They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.

The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received a dozen award recognitions, earning two for best costume and production design.
