They've played against the easiest slate across the NFL, and there have still been cracks. Drake Maye has been sacked 35 times – among the highest totals – and some of the shots he suffered last weekend were vicious. As the season progresses, those beatings accumulate.

Denver Analysis

The Broncos are eight wins similarly, and the perception remains like they're nervously waiting. Their quarterback has been erratic, and the offensive unit laboring, while the defensive unit provides the majority of the work. Lacking competent QB performance, the Broncos won't frighten playoff opponents. Los Angeles remains nearby within their division with seven wins, yet medical problems affecting their protection unit will present challenges to achieve championship contention.

Pittsburgh Steelers

And then there’s Pittsburgh, surprisingly atop the AFC North notwithstanding receiving a decisive loss to Los Angeles in the evening game. They've been outscored overall, their defense too often disappears, with their quarterback's restrictions during his career phase continue to show up. They maintain a 5-4 record while surviving, but Baltimore, with Lamar Jackson healthy again and facing easier opponents, are on a three-game win streak. This development isn't entirely shocking that the Ravens have narrowed to within one game of Pittsburgh, but how rapidly this occurred highlights deficiencies within Pittsburgh’s inconsistencies. That the Ravens started with a 1-5 record and still look like they should win the division speaks volumes regarding the conference as a whole.

Established Contenders

The Ravens represent a segment within a trio of powerhouses – alongside the Bills and Chiefs – powered by their MVP quarterbacks, who would still strike the highest anxiety for opponents if they qualified. They represent undesirable playoff matchups, yet Kansas City and Buffalo cannot get out of their own way.

Buffalo Analysis

Previously, Buffalo was celebrating following victory over Kansas City. On Sunday they suffered among the season's worst defeats this year. They didn't merely fall versus the Dolphins; they suffered humiliation, losing 30-13 as visitors. This represented Miami's initial victory against Buffalo in several seasons.
