Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom opened fire on him before escaping on foot.
The motive of the attack remains unclear and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a location close to the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the building managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Security camera video reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the location.

Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have have information to contact them.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the shooting, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to establish their location," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, expressed the relatives are devastated to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she said.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were prepared to tackle. This is a profound tragedy."
She urged the community to not sharing graphic images from the scene, noting this was an extremely painful time, particularly for Stock's young family.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that premiered on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.
Apart from his work in broadcasting, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including private security, supplying elite guarding services and protecting prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
