The ex-lawyer for the former president has stepped down as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor. This follows a judicial decision that challenged her eligibility to serve.

Attorney General's Statement

US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, confirmed her stepping down on Monday. In a statement that the appeals court finding made it unworkable for her to perform her duties.

"Do not interpret following the order as giving up," Habba stated. "My fight will now extend throughout the nation."

Court Ruling

The departure was triggered by a judicial panel ruled that she had been serving in violation of the law as US attorney. This ruling is could influence many prosecutions in New Jersey.

The appellate judges said that a acting appointment that bypassed confirmation by the US Senate breached the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.

Future Role and Reaction

It was also stated that the former prosecutor will continue working within the Department of Justice as a senior adviser. Habba plans to seek further review of the ruling, in the hope of achieving a overturned decision.
