The state attorney general has rolled out a fresh reporting form encouraging locals to provide visual evidence of immigration raids throughout New York. This action follows a shortly after a major immigration operation disrupted Manhattan's Chinatown, prompting widespread demonstrations.

US Citizens Detained In Raid

A lawmaker revealed during a Wednesday press conference that four US citizens were arrested and detained for "almost a full day" following Tuesday's raid. Rallies erupted in New York on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

"All New York residents has the right to reside free from terror," the AG declared in a release.

"If you witnessed and recorded ICE activity during the raid, I encourage you to provide that material with us. We are pledged to assessing these accounts and determining any legal breaches."

During a Wednesday press conference held with the rights organization, Representative Goldman, a Democrat, stated that four nationals were arrested by immigration for about 24 hours and that there were "no circumstances where four American citizens should be arrested for without cause." He clarified the citizens were let go on the following day with no accusations made.

"The goal is evident here. It is not about removing offenders," he said. "This represents a militarized effort to create conflict. It is merely a justification to generate turmoil for federal officials to bring in the military to halt conflict that they initiated."

Broad Criticism

Fury over the immigration operation rapidly grew – all three political contenders condemned the incident, along with Governor Kathy Hochul.

"Repeatedly, the current administration chooses authoritarian theatrics that generate terror, rather than security. It has to end," one mayoral candidate stated.

NYC immigrant rights groups voiced concern also.

"Immigration agents targeted the neighborhood with tactical trucks, masked agents and protective equipment to go after street vendors attempting to earn income. This action had nothing to do with citizen protection and focused completely on intimidating residents and areas," stated the leader of a rights organization.

Agency Rules

ICE policy forbids the holding of citizens and the agency has claimed it does not arrest or detain US citizens. Yet, external research has revealed that over 170 citizens have been taken illegally by federal agents since the beginning of the existing leadership.
