Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He added that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Devastating Event

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Invitation

The president explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Support

Mourners gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the media. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and halt issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
